2013 sees the CGA celebrate 120 years since it was founded.
The opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the organisation, its staff and its members over those years which have witnessed such huge social, cultural and economic (not to mention technological!) change gives me, more than ever, the sense of being at the helm of a truly remarkable organisation. It's responsibility I consider to be a great honour.
Ever since its foundation in 1893 the Country Gentlemen's Association has existed to serve its members. At the CGA courtesy and standards still matter and the organisation relishes the challenges of the modern day whilst continuing to appreciate traditional values.
At the core of the CGA there are more than 14,500 members, living in every corner of the country. Although the benefits of membership have evolved to meet the changing needs of members, the CGA's longstanding ethos of providing an innovative, dependable and personal service has remained unaltered. Today dedicated staff arrange exclusive events, publish the CGA Magazine and negotiate new membership privileges, whilst a team of respected financial advisors work alongside the CGA's own insurance professionals to help clients ensure that their financial affairs are managed in harmony.
I like to think of the CGA as a club without walls. Members may meet one another throughout the year at outings to rarely-opened stately homes, race- and golf days, or may simply get a sense of belonging to an organisation of like-minded people through the magazine and having the personal service and trust of the CGA team on hand. We certainly don't follow the crowd and are proud of our independence.
I trust you will enjoy the many benefits of CGA membership and look forward to perhaps meeting you at a CGA event in the near future.
William Harrison-Allan
